Background

Biography

David P. Chassin of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) serves as chair of the Steering Committee for the OASIS Blue Member Section; his term extends to September 2011.

David is Staff Scientist, Energy & Environment Directorate at PNNL. He has more than 25 years of experience in the research and development of computer applications software for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. His focus has been on nonlinear system dynamics and high performance simulation and modeling (including energy and HVAC systems, air-flow in buildings, control systems, and logistics systems); diagnostic systems (including decision trees, expert systems, statistical systems, genetic algorithms, neural networks, etc.); energy system modeling; and image processing and analysis (including cellular automata, and pipeline image processing).

David led PNNL’s complex adaptive systems research under the Energy Systems Transformation Initiative, identifying first-principles models of the emergent econo-physical behavior of large scale engineered infrastructure systems such as U.S. electric power markets, and electric transmission and distribution networks.
